Over the last 15 years Ged Kennett has been working to refine traditional blacksmithing and metalworking techniques in order to make high quality, beautifully finished furniture fittings. Ged has taken procedures which would normally be used to make iron gates and railings and has honed them until they can create metalwork that will enhance the finest furniture and interiors.
HANDMADE COLLECTION
The handmade collection is available in a variety of metals and finishes. Handles made from brass have ‘living finishes‘ which allow them to react to their environment and age over time. For stainless steel handles he uses different techniques to attain three levels of finish: matte, semi-gloss and full gloss.
PPRK : Available in Gloss and Semi-gloss Stainless Steel, Matte Stainless Steel, Polished Unlacquered Brass, Waxed Satin Brass, Antique Brass, Natural Brass and Bronze.
RH HANDLE: Customize the texture on the face of the pull with either PTH or TOP texture. One of Ged’s signature pulls. Also, one of our favorites.
FINISHES
All Ged’s handles made from brass have finishes which allow them to react to their environment. Their color and polish (patina) will change with time and use; this is why they are said to have a Living Finish. Handles that receive heavy use will polish back to their underlying metal whilst those that receive little use will generally darken.
For stainless steel handles he uses different techniques to attain three levels of finish: matte, semi-gloss and full gloss. For the full gloss polished stainless steel Ged uses a seven stage polishing system of the finest Swedish compounds, culminating with a very special, super high gloss polish applied with the softest ‘swans’ down’ mops. This produces a beautiful polish of the highest quality.
